Sabbath we went back to Yellowstone. The first animal we saw was a bald eagle. The nest was in a tree close to the road. We saw buffalo too, but not as many or as close as last time. We still didn't see any bear or moose. But we did see a group of people standing out in a field watching the grass where a grizzle bear was suppose to be. Does that count?
I did see a moose a couple days later, on my way home from Bozeman. I included that picture too.
We saw several mountain goats this time. Some were on ledges where it seems like it would be impossible to climb.
It was a beautiful day. It would be fun to live this close to Yellowstone and be able to go monthly. I'd love to see it in the winter.
Sunday we had a funny experience. We went back to the Soup Garage for supper. There was quite a waiting line. Finally they called the couple in front of us. While the waitress was getting the menus, silverware, etc., the lady started talking to us and said something about us eating with them. I couldn't help but notice the man's shirt. So I asked him if the other side was dirty. He had it on wrong side out. He was appalled at himself. He immediately went inside and turned it around. In the meantime his wife said she'd really had a rough day too. Twice she had gone in a men's restroom, but didn't notice until she came out and saw men in there. This was a nice looking couple, middle class and not on drugs! But they were great entertainment!
The truck is all packed. The last boxes of stuff is mostly junk. But you got to get it all. The truck is full. We're just hoping that it isn't overweight. We'll have it weighed on our way out of town. I hate to think what we'll have to do, if we weigh too much.
Chad came on Tuesday to pick up a few things for his store in Minnesota. The main thing he wanted was the display freezer. It was too tall to go out the front door, which would have been the easiest. The back door has a step up. They had to take off the door frame to get it out. Then they had to use a fork lift to get it out the door. But bad news; after that it wouldn't fit in the rental truck. Yes, they did measure. They knew it would be a tight fit, but it still didn't work. Finally they had to lay it on it's back, which may ruin it. But what do you do? So Chad ended up staying an extra day. But that's okay with us. We enjoyed his company.
Yesterday was Kathleen's birthday, so the four of us went out to lunch to watch her age gracefully. Last week we got to help her celebrate her anniversary too. We did let her husband join us that time!
This morning I 'called in sick' and went out to breakfast with Vonnie, the cook here at the academy. We had a great time trying to see who could talk the most and fastest! We decided we were 'new best friends'. She's a KINDRED SPIRIT!
We have made several new friends here. It's been a fun, memory filled month. Ray, the maintenance man is a hoot. His humor is probably worse than mine. With all our new friends, it'll be fun to come back next year and help with campmeeting.
We just had the news on. It seems that we missed seeing a celebrity tonight, Ted Turner. We planned on eating at Ted's tonight but when we got there, it was so busy that we went to Wendy's instead. This was the 1st anniversary of Ted's here in Bozeman, and Ted came to celebrate. We missed out.
I was just thinking, sometimes it feels disappointing to miss opportunities in this old life, but how much more disappointing it would be if we missed out on Heaven. I do not want to miss out on that! And I want all my family and friends there too.
