September 5 Rochester, MN

What an interesting day! We drove by the Great Mall of America, the largest mall in America. We drove by the bridge that collapsed by the Mall of America. We could have driven by Red Wing where they've made crocks and dishes forever - almost. But we didn't, we went another route.

We went to see Laura Ingalls Wilder's birthplace, 'the little house in the big woods'. We missed their yearly 'Laura Ingalls Wilder Days' by one week. Sad!

And we're staying in Rochester, MN., where the famous Mayo Clinic is located.

As you may have guessed by now, I'm a big Laura Ingalls Wilder fan, the books not the TV show. I've now been to the Little House in the Big Woods, on the Prairie, and Little Town on the Prairie and the Banks of Plum Creek. I've also been to Rocky Ridge Farm in Missouri where Laura lived as an adult. It's been a fun way to explore American history.

When (or if) I grow up, I really would like to be a professional tourist. After being over here by the Mississippi River, my hunger for a river cruise has returned. Maybe later. . .
