November 5 Salt Lake City, UT

Our week at home flew by. We were busy from one end of it to the other. Stocking in Idaho is a little different from our other stops. When we're home, it feels like we should be able to do home things. Not so! But it was nice being able to sleep in our own bed and use our own washer and dryer (no charge).

Twenty five years ago yesterday, we moved to Idaho the first time. It's a wonderful place to live. Idaho has no earthquakes, tornadoes, humidity or chiggers to speak of. What else can you want? It does have mountains, great camping places and only an 8-10 hour drive to the ocean.

We didn't get away from home as soon as we intended. It must have been around 2:00. We drove about 4 hours to Rupert, Idaho. We stopped for gas and was hoping for supper. That ended up being a bag of chips and a cookie. Sounds like health food to me, doesn't it? We didn't want to take the time for a restaurant because it was getting late and Salt Lake was still around 3 hours further.

About 10 minutes south of town, a spring in the accelerator broke. When it broke, the accelerator stuck. Jim had to get his foot under the gas pedal to make that quit. Then we coasted to a stop beside the highway. Interestingly enough, that was the widest shoulder we saw all day.

During the 90 minute wait for a service truck, we got to watch an amazing sunset over the mountain. It had beautiful colors. And a little later we saw a beautiful moon rise. How many times in our daily life do we take the time to watch either?

Finally the service truck got there. He put a new spring on the truck and only charged $308. That may have broke down to $8. for the parts and $300. miscellaneous.

The sad thing about this is that when Jim had the truck serviced in Idaho, he told them that the spring was too tight. They said there was nothing wrong with it. Jim will show them the bill next week......

So, our God is still in control. He takes care of us every step of the way.

We got to Salt Lake around 11:00. It's late, but I had to write about this while the details are fresh.

We'll be staying in a motel the next 3 nights. It looks like a pretty decent one (for a cheap motel!).
