We are so lucky (BLESSED) to be alive!!! We were expecting for it to get to 15 degrees or so last night. So we closed the windows, put on extra quilts, and turned up the heat. In the middle of the night, I woke up with a headache and my heart was really pounding. A couple minutes later the carbon monoxide alarm started beeping. We opened windows quickly. There was no wind, but it eventually cleared out. Only then did the alarm turn off.
We slept the rest of the night with three windows open and lots of prayer. Also, remember it was 15 degrees outside. We did turn the electric heater on later, but it blew the circuits by morning.
An interesting side note on this, is that we have worked hard to make the truck air tight. The windows have been reinstalled and sealed to keep it from leaking when it rains. And we fixed the cracks in the ceiling. Now we need to look at what to do next .. .. .. leave windows open in the middle of winter weather, or what?
When you consider that we are working for God, we know why these things happen. That's exciting! We know that our Lord is always stronger then the evil one.
The next exciting thing on our agenda is the engine brakes. We just had that fixed last week and rechecked twice while in the Denver area. Yesterday they were locking up and making noises on the mountain going to Alamosa. Jim talked to a mechanic there. He said even if he looked at it, he didn't have parts to fix it. We'll have to wait until we find a freightliner dealer, and pray a lot until then. This is a good time to ask you to please remember us DAILY in your prayers.
So we've been driving mountain roads all day. Our angels have been busy. We're fine and so blessed!
Our sale in Trinidad was interesting. The pastor there has been advertising in the local paper that we were coming. The last ad was on the front page. We actually had more local town people then we had our church people. Several expressed their plans to come back next year.
I know that you won't be surprised to know that we're staying in a motel the next three nights. It seems like a smart thing to do.
